Future Cargo

Event Information

A truck arrives from an unknown location loaded with a mystery shipment. As the sides roll up a strange and unstoppable process is set into motion.

Future Cargo is a sci-fi dance show performed in a 40-foot haulage truck and, like all Requardt & Rosenberg’s shows, it delivers the delicate integrity of a deeply intimate experience within a large-scale dance spectacle.

Future Cargo is the latest outdoor work by Frauke Requardt & David Rosenberg. Created with longstanding collaborators, Hannah Clark (set and costume), Ben &Max Ringham (music and sound) and lighting designer Malcolm Rippeth.

Where and When?
Future Cargo will be performed at Guildhall Square, Southampton (SO14 7DU) on Thursday 15th, Friday 16th and Saturday 17th July 2021. The show will begin at 8pm and runs for approximately 45 minutes.

Covid Measures
The Place and Mayflower 400 Southampton will take steps to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 as laid out below:
• Only ticket holders will be admitted on to the site. Tickets must be purchased in advance and numbers will be limited.
• Headphones will be provided and sanitised between performances.
• Our staff and stewards will be tested prior to their shift and will sanitise before touching anything onsite.
• Please respect social distancing and if you are able to, please wear a face covering. Please also remember to wear as mask if using public transport to get to us.
• Please do not visit if you are feeling unwell or showing symptoms of Covid-19. You may be refused entry if you are symptomatic.
• You will be asked for your name, email address and telephone number at time of booking, this is to comply with test and trace requirements, these details will be kept for 21 days please see Southampton City Councils GDPR Policy https://www.southampton.gov.uk/contact-us/privacy-cookies/privacy-policy.aspx

Access
• There will be visual storyboards available in easy-read formats for consumption prior to the event.
• Audience members will be provided with a headset, those hard of hearing can turn these up. The headphones are compatible with most hearing aids.
• The performance will be audio-described, on a separate channel, for those who wish to use this service.
• Guildhall Square is fully wheelchair accessible and wheelchair users will be given priority spaces, near to the stage area.
• The audience for this show is standing, but you may bring a suitable chair with you if you wish.
• There is ample city centre parking available which is a short walk to the site. There is limited, pay and display, parking on street nearby for those less mobile.
