Friday 15th April:
The Flatmates:
Formed in Bristol in 1986, indie pop band The Flatmates are now better than ever and are back with a brand-new album
Helen McCookerybook:
Founder member of the bands The Chefs and Helen and the Horns, both of which recorded numerous sessions for John Peel, and released material on independent labels. Now a solo artist, she gigs in the UK, Europe and beyond and features regularly on BBC6 music. She went on to publish her thesis as an acclaimed book, Lost Women of Rock Music: Female Musicians of the Punk Era. Her second book on female sound engineers and producers, called She's at the Controls: Sound Engineering, Production and Gender Ventriloquism in the 21st Century, was published in March 2021.
The Science of Words:
Formed in 2014, The Science Of Words are a three piece guitar band - largely instrumental - based around the melodic lead guitar lines of Corinne Plant.
Corinne was previously in early 1990s band, Jack In The Green, and she is joined by Pete Bowers (ex-Rosehips, ex-Jack In The Green, Horowitz, The Total Rejection) plus ex-Basement/The Loveless guitarist, Dave Morgan-Williams.
The band’s debut single ‘In A Space’ was released in 2018 on Next Phase: Normal Records and a series of new releases are planned.
Saturday 16th April:
Film screening of The Punk Singer- a film about Kathleen Hanna
An exploration of the life and career of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre singer Kathleen Hanna. Through 20 years of archival footage and intimate interviews with Hanna, filmmaker Sini Anderson examines this pioneer of the `riot grrrl' movement.
Switchover:
Formed in May 2020, this 3-piece alternative/heavy rock band from Exmouth, take influence from bands such as The Mysterines, Royal Blood and Muse. They released their first single in June of 2020 and have an EP on the way.
Piston Dreams
Piston Dreams is a punky solo project by Estee B., created in 2020. She makes shouty guitar music of varying tones and styles, and is influenced by Teenage Jesus and The Jerks, Big Black and Shampoo. She is joined by her eclectic backing band, 'the rentboys', who put on lively and raucous performances. Piston Dreams' debut EP, 'Stuff', has 6 tracks that are about topics such as hating people, babies with knives, and bad dreams. The EP is available on all streaming platforms, as well as on vinyl.
Murder Club:
Formed in December 2020, the all-grrl indie pop-rock band have since been hard at work, trying to make a breakthrough under the pressures that the COVID-19 pandemic has put on developing artists and grassroots venues alike. They released their debut EP sour candy in February and recorded in their hometown venue Le Public Space, Newport.

Lande Hekt:
After many years enjoying life in the popular indie punk band Muncie Girls (Specialist Subject), Lande has now struck out on her own with her eponymous act. This gig sees her back at the Cavern with a full band.
The Maisonettes:
Exeter based riot grrl band drawing influence from classic acts such as Bikini Kill plus contemporaries such as Wet. Leg - formed in Lockdown of 2021 they wasted no time in writing and recording a DIY debut single “Sick of This†which then led into the release of a 4 track EP. They have been playing shows on a consistent basis which has led to some big opportunities such as supporting the highly influential punk band The Buzzcocks as well as exciting up and coming acts such as CLT DRP, Destroy Boys, Panic Shack and Grandmas House.
