A very special Sunday night as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, with Turkish folk singer-songwriter Djanan Turan and Her Band. Djanan is a key figure in North London's alternative music scene. Singing in both English and Turkish, she weaves soulful, story-rich songs that transcend language and cultural boundaries
Her music blends atmospheric guitar with haunting synths, offering fresh and evocative interpretations of Turkish folk classics alongside her original work.
For this special performance, Djanan is joined by her long-time musical collaborators — Alice Mary Jelaska on clarinet, Berdin Pamukcu on guitars, and Matt King Smith on bass guitar. Together, they bring a jazzy edge to her repertoire, where lyrical storytelling meets clarinet's soulful tones, intricate guitar textures, and grooving bass lines. Their shared musical history allows them to create a sound that is both tightly woven and full of spontaneity — a journey that feels immersive, adventurous, and contemporary while rooted in timeless traditions.
Jamboree food option: Our ‘Zer’ kitchen is open from 5pm serving delicious Middle Eastern fusion food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
