This special event is a festive celebration of global folk music, presented by The Apex Singers—an award-winning Manchester-based vocal ensemble known for their innovative a cappella performances. The evening will feature seasonal folk songs from around the world, performed entirely a cappella.
Ahead of the concert, The Apex Singers will lead an uplifting vocal workshop open to all. Whether you're a seasoned vocalist or someone who simply loves to sing in the shower, this is your opportunity to be part of a brilliant choir—without the long-term commitment. Guided by members of the group, participants will explore the art of ensemble a cappella singing in a 90-minute pre-concert session, culminating in a shared performance as part of the evening’s programme.
They make a truly gorgeous sound – check them out at theapexsingers.com.
The Apex Singers have just been nominated for four 2023 CARAs (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards) including Best Folk/World Song and Best Folk/World Album for their recent album release, Stravaig. Their debut album Hiraeth received critical acclaim including two CARA wins and 'Album of the Week' on Scala Radio. This album brings together fresh arrangements of folk-tunes from different cultures representing every continent, from an African lullaby, to a vocalised Irish jig.
