Mr. Novembre:
Mr. Novembre is the indie-folk vessel of Henry Colquhoun, carrying songs that rise and swell with longing and introspection, before falling back down to earth in the gentle epiphanies of finding one’s place in the chaos. Rooted in Manchester — but shaped by a childhood in the Middle East, a French schooling, and Celtic origins — the project has unfolded into a five-piece ensemble weaving alt-folk textures with emotional intensity.
Self-taught fingerpicking with a penchant for open tunings, Mr. Novembre draws on the musings of Laura Marling and the poetry of Leonard Cohen and Glen Hansard for intimate wanderings and quiet.
Built on a warm foundation of guitar, bouzouki and mandolin, lifted by cello and viola, glimmering piano lines, with harmonies both intimate and expansive, result in a contemporary folk sound that leans into catharsis: string-laden, tenderly arranged, and crafted to leave listeners lighter than they arrived.
Mediares:
Mediares is a new genre-bending collective based in Manchester, led by Sheffield singer-songwriter Alwyn Jones. Their nine-piece lineup (but this is a solo show!!) combines emotionally charged, unvarnished folk with a gritty Americana bite, landing somewhere between Jeff Buckley and MJ Lenderman. Their debut EP — rooted more in their folky beginnings — is set for release in 2026.
