Robbie Cavanagh doubles down on letting his music speak for itself. There is no gimmick and there is no heartbreaking backstory. “Manchester’s finest son” learned the art of writing fine, timeless music long before the days of viral moments and online trends.
This tour celebrates the release of Robbie’s latest EP, which revisits 4 songs from 2023’s studio album ‘Tough Love’, re-recorded and reimagined with a more stripped back, pensive approach.
Robbie is often seen touring alongside his backing band “The Whole Family”, but this run of shows provides a unique opportunity to catch Robbie in an intimate, solo setting as he dives deeper into the stories behind the songs, whilst delivering the trademark powerful vocal and guitar performances that have earned him the respect of fans, peers and industry professionals alike.
Since releasing his third record “Tough Love’ Robbie has been touring Europe, USA, UK and Canada, sharing his songs and stories at showcases and festivals such as Folk Alliance International, Celtic Connections, Americana Fest (US & UK), Cambridge Folk Festival, Showcase PEI, Black Deer Festival, Kendal Calling.
As well as headline shows with his backing band, Robbie has toured in support of artists like The Wood Brothers, The Shires, Kristian Bush (Sugarland), Us The Duo.
In 2021, Robbie was awarded Whispering Bob Harris’s Emerging Artist Award at the Americana Music Awards. Outside of solo releases, Robbie has written songs released by such artists as Jim Lauderdale, Fairground Attraction, Laura Oakes to name a few.
