The Legend of Troy is a marvel of cultural heritage, a complex blend of facts and legends. Stories of the ten year siege and the wooden horse are entertaining, but often incomplete or self-contradictory.
In the last hundred years archaeologists have discovered physical evidence and written accounts which shed new light on the old stories.
The talk will use evidence from recent archaeological digs and from Hittite tablets to support new explanations of why the Trojan War began, and how it ended, who the Amazons were and the real identity of Achilles.
