WUT are three friends from Vancouver playing jangle pop, cuddle-core and twee and making a local name for themselves with their joyfully heartfelt live performances. Being in love with craft and the handmade, they love to create - and have together released a cassette, a full length record, and 12 homemade music videos. Their latest record Mingling with the Thorns is a collection of carefully crafted pop songs that reflects the bands mutual love for c86 jangle pop and early flying nun bands. On a surface level, WUT may seem fun and carefree. However, a dig deeper into their lyrical content draws up themes that grapple with patriarchy and late capitalism; specifically the struggle to find personal autonomy within these social systems. Their heart-felt live shows will have you hugging your friend while raising your fist at “The Man”.
