THE FARM is a powerful blend of sound, story and landscape. Written and led by Marcus Vergette, this suite of vocal compositions captures the essence of the Devon farm he’s called home for over 35 years. With lyrics by Kate Westbrook, P.E. Mondjegou, and an excerpt from Ted Hughes’ Hawk, the music paints an intimate portrait of place, ecology, and time.
Expect live performance interwoven with field recordings: the dawn chorus, rain on leaves, auction calls, bells from a 15th-century church. And that’s not all – the set includes music played on a set of hand-sculpted plaster bells made by Marcus himself.
Featuring vocals from Nel Hubbard, Jessica Wynn Jones and Lucy Foat, with William Butterworth on piano, Jem Fatma on drums, and Marcus on bass, this is a deeply original performance that folds music, nature, and sculpture into one immersive experience.
A must for fans of: jazz, experimental sound, soundscape composition, ecological art, and live performance with a twist.
