Katie Grace Harris and Lauren South met on the local folk scene in the Midlands just before lockdown and bonded over shared parenting and music stories. Lauren, Katie and other gigging mums have met several times since to enjoy making music and supporting each other. Lauren and Katie usually save their shared music for themselves but are coming together, in the round for this one performance alongside cellist Andy Nice to showcase their individual music and some shared pieces.
Katie and Lauren have both previously performed at ACE Space separately and are very much looking forward to returning together.
KATIE GRACE HARRIS with Andy Nice:
Katie Grace Harris is a multi-tasking, foot tapping, piano, dulcimer and accordion playing singer and story-weaver. Inspired by real stories of social injustice and with a fast-growing reputation in the UK Folk world, her sound has been described as
'boot-thumping, heart filling contemporary British folk’.
Katie is joined on cello by the phenomenal Andy Nice who has played cello with everyone from Sade to Cradle of Filth and is most noted for his performance alongside Mr Darcy in BBCs Pride and Prejudice.
LAUREN SOUTH:
Residing in Warwickshire, Lauren South is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for her original compositions and traditional melodies. With the accompaniment of tenor guitar, fiddle, and shruti box, her songs exude heartfelt emotion and vivid imagery, drawing inspiration from her passion for the nocturnal heavens, the natural world, and her journey through motherhood. Lauren’s debut solo album, Tiny Boat, was released in November 2023 to critical acclaim, with the title track featuring on FATEA’s Spring Showcase 2024.
