Event Information

Nothing in Rambling draw influence from the 1920s and 30s delta and Louisiana blues, channelling the passion and playfulness of the great performers from that era. Kaspar and Lucy’s sound is rooted in the raw Mississippi Hill Country blues style and the powerful hypnotic grooves of the juke joint. Together they’ll be raising hell, taking you to church and giving you an unforgettable night of primal blues.

KASPAR & LUCY:

A collaboration between Kaspar Berry Rapkin & Lucy Piper sees two established musicians from the UK's Blues scene come together to play the upbeat Hill Country & Delta Blues from the land where they first met, Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Dedicated to capturing the raw hypnotic energy you'd find in a traditional 'Juke Joint', both musicians are devoted to keeping this unique music alive, with an added fresh edge.
Hailing from St Albans and Exeter, Kaspar plays regularly on the London Blues circuit as well as at many of the leading UK's Blues Festivals, both solo and with his band 'The Swamp Dogs', whilst Lucy is well known on the scene for her role as a Blues session Drummer, and has played with the likes of Ben Waters, Mississippi Macdonald, and James Oliver, as well as many American Blues artists out in the Delta, such as Watermelon Slim and Robert Kimbrough Sr.

Her late father was Blues Musician & Music journalist Julian Piper, who she also played with, in his band 'Junkyard Angels'.

Kaspar and Lucy believe that the genre deserves a larger audience and are determined to showcase its power, authenticity, and irresistible groove to new listeners and dedicated blues fans alike.

NOTHING IN RAMBLING

Sister Suzie and Andy Twyman take you on a musical journey through Mississippi and Louisiana performing music by artists such as Memphis Minnie, Blind Boy Fuller and Elmore James. Guided by a mutual passion for early blues, they evoke the playfulness, power and soul of the music and the people who created it.

2024 saw the release of their highly acclaimed debut album ‘Live at Bush Hall’, which received airplay on the Cerys Matthews BBC Radio 2 Blues Show. In 2024 they've played as Nothing in Rambling at Red Rooster Festival, Upton Blues festival as well as Glastonbury. They’ve both enjoyed success as separate artists before working together. Suzie sings and rocks the blues with her band Sister Suzie and The Right Band. Andy performs a lauded one man band show, blending blues with comedy, and also plays guitar in Dana Gillespie’s London Blues Band.

Their chemistry brings out the mischief and humour in songs of sexual liberation. Their emotional connection with the stories of the early blues performers gives soul to the deep blues and gospel songs they perform. Andy’s nimble and authentic guitar work provides the perfect back drop for
Suzie's powerful blues vocals and on-stage charm to shine as they come together in Nothing In Rambling.

“I adore this album, it has touched my soul” Stephen Harrison, Blues Matters Magazine review of ‘Live at Bush Hall’

“Suzie’s voice is unforced, achieving numerous stylistic changes, while Andy’s guitar is technically impressive, versatile and consistently delivers flawless accompaniment” Morgan Hogarth, RnR Magazine
