Friday night with the fantastic Gnawa Blues All Stars playing traditional Gnawa (sacred trance music from Africa / Morocco), with support from ace Highlife and Reggae performer Planetman!
Headliners the Gnawa Blues All Stars fuse Gnawa with music from countries such as Gambia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, India, Japan, Venezuela and the Caribbean. Simo Lagnawi S.I.M.O is the Ambassador of Gnawa Culture in the UK and charismatic creator and leader of the band. He has appeared on BBC World Service, BBC Proms, CNN World, BBC Radio 3 and Vox Africa and performed at a host of festivals including Glastonbury, Womad, Secret Garden Party, Latitude and Boomtown!
Support on the night comes from Planetman, blending highlife guitars and reggae with earnest folk and brightly soulful vocals. A founding member of iconic London venue Passing Clouds, his monthly Little Blue Ball parties spanned over a decade, legendary for their eclectic mix of music, people and sky-high vibes.
Jamboree food option: Our ‘Zer’ kitchen is open from 5pm serving delicious Middle Eastern fusion food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
