Event Information
Albert Lee's impeccable country music and rock pedigree stretches back over more than 40 years. He has performed with many of the greats in country and rock, including Joe Cocker, Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton and the Everly Brothers. As well as being a top guitarist, he is also a red hot piano player and a pretty good singer too.
THE HISTORY OF Albert Lee
Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most technically gifted guitarists of all time, Albert Lee occupies a rare place in music history — a player revered equally by rock royalty, country legends, and guitar obsessives the world over. Over an extraordinary career spanning more than six decades, he has worked alongside an astonishing roll call of artists including The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris, and The Crickets — not as a sideman in name only, but as a defining musical voice.
Born in England, Albert emerged from the explosive, genre-melting London scene of the early 1960s, a time when rock ’n’ roll, blues, country, and pop collided nightly in clubs and studios. During this formative period, he famously swapped bands and stages with contemporaries such as Jimmy Page and Chris Farlowe, absorbing influences at a ferocious rate while quietly forging a style entirely his own — one that blended lightning-fast precision with deep musicality and unmistakable tone.
Albert’s move to the United States marked a turning point. Immersing himself fully in the American country and roots scene, he became a bridge between British rock sensibility and authentic Nashville musicianship, earning a reputation as the guitarist players spoke about in hushed, reverent tones. His jaw-dropping speed, flawless hybrid picking, and melodic clarity set new benchmarks, influencing generations of players across rock, country, and beyond.
Alongside a celebrated solo career, Albert’s peerless skill was formally recognised in 2002, when he won a Grammy Award for his contribution to the definitive recording of “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” — a moment that cemented his status not just as a virtuoso, but as a custodian of American musical heritage.
Still touring today with undiminished fire and finesse, Albert Lee remains a living master, instantly recognisable by his iconic Ernie Ball Music Man signature guitar and, more importantly, by a sound that is as joyful as it is jaw-dropping. Few guitarists are admired by fans, feared by fellow players, and respected by legends in equal measure — Albert Lee is one of them.
