Born and raised in Scotland, adrift in genre and sensibility, Memphis weaves traditional Folk guitar styles into his love of storytelling and songwriting. As the listener immerses themselves in Memphis’s wandering ballads, they discover a tender insight into the life of a small town, working lad, his family, relationships, and upbringing. As a folk musician, Memphis also presents traditional songs, reworking arrangements to reveal forgotten sentiments and connect past with present. Gifted with melancholy, his self-penned numbers can subvert emotions, invite audiences to read between the lines, and find humour in life’s hardships.
