Healthy Junkies
Mixing Punk Rock with Grunge, Psychedelic Rock, New Wave, Garage Rock and Goth, add a soupçon of theatre and you have Healthy Junkies. Glamorous yet rebel lead punkster Nina Courson moved to London after she ran away from home to pursue her own rock n roll rite of passage.. Destiny awaited when she found guitarist Phil-Honey-Jones who at the time was in a psychedelic rock band called HiroshAmour as well as playing guitar in punk band The Duel.. Phil had left his hometown in Tring Hertfordshire and moved to London too, and the two went on their way together on a new path seeking solace in the world of music. They named the band Healthy Junkies, reflecting the mental health epidemic currently spreading like wildfire through the core of western society.
In late 2013 Healthy Junkies added Dave Whitmore on bass and Tony Alda on drums hitting the road in the UK and Europe, building a following in both the UK and Europe.. Support slots along the way have included The Rezillos, Sham 69, Walter Lure, The Professionals, GBH, Vice Squad, Theatre of hate, The Sex gang children, 999, The Vibrators, Spizz Energi and The Buzzcocks at the legendary 100 club. They toured the U.S. West Coast for the first time in October/November 2018. Rodney Bingenheimer, former KROQ DJ and current Sirius XM DJ has given the band many airplay spins which inspired them to make that leap over the pond. The band have relentlessly toured and been on the road constantly since their formation. The 6th studio album entitled Listen to the mad is currently well on its way and set for release on November 22nd 2024. The band found a new drummer in 2020 called David Gaut. He plays on the new album and has helped give the band a renewed sense of vigour.
They have been played on the radio by the likes of BBC Radio London introducing by Gary Crowley, BBC Jersey, Fresh on the net, Amazing Radio, Planet Rock, Total Rock, Lava TV and Blank TV. as well as many Internet Radio stations all over the world. They were also featured in a music documentary called The United Kingdom of pop, a 2 part series which tells the story of Rock’n’roll from its beginnings to now. They were interviewed alongside legends such as DJ Don Letts and Lynval Golding from the Specials. It was presented and shown on ARTE TV which is one of the most important channels in France and Germany with millions of viewers and as of 2023 it was aired on Sky Arts in the UK. They have also appeared in numerous magazines such as Vive le Rock Rock, Louder than War, Big Cheese Magazine, Big take over magazine, Devolution Magazine, Punk Globe, Punk Lounge and more.
Healthy Junkies are a key figure in the UK alternative underground scene and they have built quite a fan base over the years. They have played every year since 2012 at the mighty Rebellion punk festival in Blackpool, The Whitby Goth festival supporting Toyah and in 2024 Corrosion festival in Morecambe. This led to a recent support slot to The Skeletal family. 2024 saw them heading out to France on a short tour as well playing shows up and down the UK.
Phil and Nina also have been running their own monthly night in Camden, London for 10 years now. It is called Punk and Roll Rendezvous. Alongside the monthly night they host a successful annual 3 day Punk and roll rendezvous festival.
Punk and roll rendezvous and Healthy junkies have one main goal; that is to bring people together. People from across the board wishing to express themselves and be authentic without prejudice.

She Made Me Do It
She Made Me Do It, the post-punk electro-rock duo formed by Rachel Stamp members Shaheena Dax and Will Crewdson, release their new five-track EP, Artificial, a heady mixture of crunching guitars, soaring vocals and shimmering keyboards.
The title track’s melancholy mood and thudding beats open proceedings as the band investigates the impact of technology on human relationships and the ease of deceptive manoeuvres within it all. It’s complemented by a stunning animated video created by regular SMMDI visual collaborator Pushing Normal,
Next up is anthemic recent single Free Again, a hook-laden paean to Nineties hedonism that sees SMMDI delve further into the pop realm.
The heartfelt piano-driven Abandoned is a song about grief and loss - the spiky riffs undercutting thoughts of the pain of never seeing someone’s face or hearing their voice again as memories fade away.
Strangest Reason uncovers secret desires amid a jealous world, opening with a dirty bass sound that melds with sheet-metal guitars and a slinky rhythm.
The EP closes out with the galloping electro sequences of All In The Name of Love, an intense song that warns of love’s destructive powers, and how we always hurt the ones we care about.
* Artificial will be available on CD and all digital platforms from 6th October 2023
