Event information

The Scribes are a multi-award winning hip hop act from Bristol whose unique talents have combined to make a trademark sound quite unlike any other, featuring a seamless blend of live instrumentation and sampling set against a backdrop of head nodding boom bap breaks.

One of the most in demand touring acts in the UK today, the group are known for critically acclaimed performances full of energy, beatboxing, crowd participation and off the cuff freestyling. The Scribes have become festival favourites across the UK, recently gracing the stage at Glastonbury, Wireless, Isle Of Wight, Electric Picnic, Latitude, Wilderness, WOMAD, Boomtown, and many more.

The group’s extensive touring has seen them collaborate and perform with some of the biggest names in the scene including Macklemore, Rudimental, MF DOOM, Kelis, Dizzee Rascal, Example, De La Soul, Wu Tang Clan, The Pharcyde, Wiley, KRS One, Goldie, Sugarhill Gang and Chase and Status to name (drop) but a few.

The Scribes were the first UK artist signed with US label Kamikazi Airlines, co-owned by Dizzy Dustin of legendary hip hop act Ugly Duckling, releasing "The Sky Is Falling" LP and "The Scribes Present Ill Literature" LP worldwide to critical acclaim.

This success garnered the group a sponsorship deal with ethical clothing company THTC alongside huge names like Ed Sheeran and Foreign Beggars, before being followed up with the “A Story All About How” LP and the apocalyptic EP “Mr Teatime & The End Of The World” on Reel Me Records, the latter being named winner of the UndergroundHH.com “Concept Album of The Year” award.

Since joining Quill Equipped Records The Scribes have released the “Quill Equipped Villainy” LP and “Totem Trilogy” EPs, featuring an array of talent including Akil the MC from Jurassic 5, Dizzy Dustin from Ugly Duckling, MC Duke, TrueMendous and Leon Rhymes from Too Many T’s, winning the group further acclaim alongside regular air play on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Radio 6 Music.

During the Covid lockdowns The Scribes worked with The Get Down Records for the limited 7” clear vinyl “Stir Crazy/Haunted House Party”, before signing with international agency Stimulus Management.

Joining an incredible roster including Snoop Dogg, Nas, DJ Premier, Redman, Cardi B and Busta Rhymes, the group are among the most talented artists on the scene today, with a genuinely unique sound backed up by a polished and proven live show that simply has to be seen to be believed.
