Trip hop was born in Bristol ~ that bohemian, multi-ethnic city where restlessly inventive DJs spent years assembling samples from groove-heavy acid jazz, dub, neo-psychedelia and brainy art rap into something the world had never quite heard before. The Bristol sound has been described as “possessing a darkness that is uplifting, a joyful melancholy.”

Bellyful are the inheritors of that proud tradition. Self-described neo trip hop, they drag the genre’s smoky atmospheres and hypnotic slow-burn rhythms into the present - a sound rooted in one of Britain’s great musical cities, evolving into something entirely their own.
