That Turntable Might Be Damaging Your Records! Hear the difference a proper setup makes
You’ve seen them all over. Compact, colourful, easy to plug in and play. A quick entry into vinyl… and often the first turntable a younger listener ends up using. But here’s the part that rarely gets said out loud: most suitcase turntables are built for convenience, not your records.
Heavy tracking force. Basic cartridges. Minimal isolation. That combination doesn’t just limit sound quality — it slowly chews through the groove over time. Your records don’t come out the other side unchanged.
And that matters, because records aren’t “cheap and cheerful” anymore. At £20–£50 a pop, whether it’s you buying them, or your kids or grandchildren building a collection, these aren’t throwaway purchases. They’re something people care about.
So the real question is simple: why play them on something that was never designed to show you what’s actually on them? It’s like watching a 4K film on a cracked phone screen. You’ll recognise it, but you’re not getting the detail, the depth, or the impact it was made to deliver. ?
We’re running a series of relaxed, beginner-friendly events across Audio T stores to show exactly what vinyl can do when it’s played properly.

Each session runs for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and takes place in a relaxed, small-group setting, giving you the time and space to properly hear the differences and ask questions. Sessions start at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00, with short breaks in between. Places are free, but limited, so booking is essential to secure your spot.
No jargon. No pressure. Just a proper A/B comparison between a typical suitcase player and a correctly set up hi-fi system.
We’ll also cover vinyl care properly — because even brand-new records can carry dust, static, and pressing residue straight out of the sleeve. Left unchecked, that all affects what you hear. Clean them properly, and the difference is immediate.
Bring a couple of records.
Ask anything — seriously, anything. And hear it for yourself. No judgement. No gatekeeping. Just the truth about what your records actually sound like. We’ll also have some exclusive bundles and event offers available if you decide you want to take the next step.
If you care enough to buy vinyl, it’s worth hearing what’s really in it.
