Event information
Films4Freedom and The Learning Co‑op invites you to a screening of “The Battle of Chile, Part One: The Insurrection of the Bourgeoisie”. Directed by Patrizio Guzman in the months leading up to Salvador Allende’s assassination, this masterclass of cinema verité transports us directly onto the political frontlines of 1973 Chile.

"Workers of my country, I have faith in Chile and its destiny. Other men will overcome this dark and bitter moment when treason seeks to prevail. Go forward knowing that, sooner rather than later, the great avenues will open again where free men will walk to build a better society.
Long live Chile! Long live the people! Long live the workers!
These are my last words, and I am certain that my sacrifice will not be in vain, I am certain that, at the very least, it will be a moral lesson that will punish felony, cowardice, and treason.”
– Salvador Allende, , 11 September 1973
🔗
Socialist Allende's final words reminds us that the dark clouds formed by capitalism over the global workers heads, will too pass through continued principled action, education and organisation.

To understand this fight, we must also understand the language of the land. The Learning Co-op is proud to host both group and 1-1 Spanish classes for beginners, a form of resistance through education.
