Event information

In light of the current disconnect in the world, Amelia has created a programme to take the listener on a global journey to experience music that has a powerful way of connecting countries, continents and cultures. With her is one of the UK's finest accordion players, Mirek Salmon, who's played here before with Moscow Drug Club.

The first set starts with folk tunes from the British Isles and then to Scandinavian tunes, where Amelia will play on a Hardanger fiddle. After some French cafe music they will perform a waltz from Ukraine before turning to Klezmer and traditional/gypsy Russian tunes.

In the second set, Mirek switches to Bandoneon for some passionate Argentinian tango music, upbeat Brazilian choro, followed by country and bluegrass tunes.

Amelia Goodall played with the French chamber orchestra Les Siècles on modern, classical and baroque violin, performing in the great halls of Paris and across Europe.
After moving to the West Country she played with the Bristol Ensemble and in Devon with Ambrosian Strings. Whilst in Paris, she discovered Tango violin and performed with the London Tango Orchestra and with Mirek in Tango Calor. She is also passionate about teaching violin and early years music and is a trained music therapist.

Mirek Salmon plays bandoneon, piano and accordion. He has toured with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, Royal Shakespeare Company and London Tango Orchestra amongst others. Mirek performs regularly with Moscow Drug Club and his own project, Tango Calor. He is a keen educator and runs the Bristol community tango orchestra.
