Braw Gigs is back at Home Bar on July 24th with a totally killer, no filler, three-way line up. Old Braw buddies Container and Nic Krog return to the capital to lay down some mind-altering rhythms and frequencies, and I’m pleased to welcome Afraidofmessages - the solo project of Sonja Aguilar of the incredible BRAK from Berlin. After the live sets, the Ascetic Practices crew will be spinning post punk, goth and industrial jams in the basement till the wee hours. It’s not a huge room, so I’d get booking those tickets asap, this will be a stacked Friday night in Tollcross.
Container is the solo electronic music project of American-born, London-based musician Ren Schofield. Known for his abrasive, experimental blend of noise, punk, and distorted techno, his music is often described as an avant-garde take on dance music. His set a few years ago in the Banshee was a total demolition job, a must see live act.
Berlin based sound artist, Nic Krog, creates a distinct and volatile blend of bass-heavy club music juxtaposed with subversive sound art and spoken word. You may have caught Nic’s set last year opening for Wolf Eyes at Legends, but if not, you’re in for a real treat.
Afraidofmessages, aka AOM, is a solo project by Sonja Aguilar (guitar and vocalist of noise-rock/no-wave band BRAK). With different approaches to simple instruments, AOM is experimenting with analogue synths, guitar and various percussion for a sonic output in form of the genre 'experimental dream-noise'.
