Event information
Join us in The Fae Folkrooms for an evening of music, poetry and connection, with performances from local artists and invited special guests. The Fae Folkrooms celebrates the underground, the otherworldly, the alternative, the queer and the extraordinary.
Headlining this month will be some familiar faces to regular attendees of the Folkrooms! Selkie’s Kiss are a Cambridge-based free folk group playing music influenced by the traditions of Scotland, Ireland, England, Scandinavia and beyond. Their performances centre traditional song and tune forms - some old, some new, many written by the band themselves.
Consisting of Evan (fiddle, vocals), Jess (fiddle, vocals), Liam (guitar) and Kynan (bodhran), Selkie’s Kiss, named after a dream, formed on the Cambridge session scene in 2025 and have been performing the length and breadth of East Anglia since. With a free and open approach to folk music, the band champion new voices and are active players in the emerging queer folk scene in the UK.
“Our folk is a living culture: not an archive of ancient traditions but a breathing collection of art and activity, story and song.”
Selkie’s Kiss will be joined by a host of other brilliant local poets and musicians for our final event before the summer!
