The Solent Concert Orchestra presents Symphony, Festival & Romance, an afternoon of musical contrast and character. At its heart is the Symphony No. 6 by Niels Gade, paired with the exuberant Academic Festival Overture by Johannes Brahms. The programme also features the characterful Nell Gwyn Overture and 3 Dances by Edward German, alongside two contrasting solo works: the expressive Romance for bassoon and orchestra by Edward Elgar, and the elegant Romance for horn and orchestra by Camille Saint-Saëns. Together these works promise a rich and colourful programme.

The Solent Concert Orchestra is a group of amateur musicians from the Southampton, Solent and New Forest area. We aim to give enjoyment to our members and audiences with performances of classical to light modern orchestral music, including symphonies and concertos, at least three times a year in the Southern Hampshire area.
