Event information

Swell Music Agency is so excited to bring the SLO County Stumblers to Ashburton Arts Centre in Devon. Abby from Swell writes “you won't want to miss their groovy fiddle tunes and stonking songs!”

“Old Time is alive and well in the hands of SLO County Stumblers who bring the drive and grit stringband music deserves. They strike the perfect balance of taking the music seriously without taking themselves too seriously. It’s clear they have a rollicking good time playing with each other. Lend your ears a spell and good times will ensue.“ Brad Kolodner, Folk Alley and Bluegrass Country Radio

The SLO County Stumblers is an energetic American string band based in California’s Central Coast. The band features fiddler Casy Meikle, guitarist David Baine, banjo player Daniel Bohlman, and Jerry James on bass.

The band was formed in 2018 when Bassist, Jerry James pulled together an Old Time Music Gathering in Pozo, California at the Historic Pozo Saloon. Jerry cobbled together a “front porch band” for the gathering consisting of a couple of his local musician/fishing buddies to play banjo (Daniel Bohlman) and guitar (Stuart Mason) while a visiting SLO County native living in Nashville, Casy Meikle would hold it down on fiddle. Though the quartet had played a handful of times prior to the music gathering, what happened on the porch of that saloon was too good to be a one-off, the SLO County Stumblers were born. David Baine joined the band full time in 2023.

The Stumblers are known for their high energy live shows where they perform hard-driving old time fiddle tunes and spirited songs, heavily influenced by the golden-era string bands of the 1920s and 30s. Their performance is filled with humorous stories and banter and is guaranteed to get feet moving across the dance floor.
