Event information
Jenny will ask why plant medicine became 'folklore' in the general consciousness and how this still affects our medicine choices today. Through the use of firsthand accounts, she invites us into the worlds of 'Whit-Witches', cunning-folk, wart charmers, pellars, and conjurors, while unearthing the curious mystery of why so many 19th-century West Country practitioners began their craft as cobblers and carpenters.
She will also explore how the secrets to our own plant medicine, rather than variations on ancient, imported Greek and Roman texts, could be found in Dartmoor's peat, or revealed directly through the quiet ritual of plant communication meditation.
