Travel back to a time when the sound of hammer on anvil echoed across Bude Canal, horses queued to be shod, sailing ships filled the wharf and every piece of ironwork was made by hand.
Join us for a fascinating guided walk exploring 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬,, and discover how one local blacksmith adapted as Bude changed from a busy working port into the town we know today.
From forging the ironwork for the canal lock gates to repairing farm machinery, shoeing horses and making souvenirs for visitors, Fred's story offers a unique glimpse into over 50 years of Bude's working heritage.
Come and celebrate Heritage Open Days with this FREE tour at The Castle Heritage Centre.
