Storytelling at the Feast of Fools is extremely pleased to be welcoming Tim Ralphs back for a repeat visit. He’s a highly talented and engaging storyteller, with a style encompassing everything from serious epic to rapid fire surreal comedy, and was one of the very first guest performers who came to us. He was good then, and he’s only got better since.

This time he brings a new show, “In Strange and Wondrous Company.”

A Villain with a missing heart gallops on a horse he stole from the uplands of Hell. Where he rides milk turns sour, crops wither, spiders spin their webs backwards, and dreams turn to nightmares. What this land needs is a hero - a gallant noble with a dashing smile and flashing blade. Or a wise old crone with knowledge of every herb in the hedgerow. Or even some upstart, headstrong youth with pluck and good fortune. But heroes are in short supply...

Instead, we've got three colourful, creaking caravans full of wandering players - minstrels of no renown and dubious talent. They're not so much here to save the day as they are trying to earn a crust fiddling while the world burns. One of them is only a mouse. We're probably doomed but sometimes life is about making the best with what you've got.

Join Tim Ralphs in an intricately interwoven tapestry of wonder tales, a dynamic jest of a storytelling show that journeys between life, death and all the realms of the imagination. It's a patchwork collection, a motley of familiar fairytale motifs, spun into an entirely new shape.
And join the very friendly Feast of Fools community, where the company and the cakes are very far from sour, in the comfortable and beautiful Quaker Meeting House, for the first event in our Autumn 2026 season. The car park next door has re-opened, (just remember to pay!) and our doors will open at 7.00 for a 7.30 start.
