When bassist Julia Grassetti and guitarist Yury Hermuche met in December 2005 in São Paulo, Brazil, they began to shape their own blend of heavy, hypnotic psychedelia, space rock, and shoegaze. Over two decades, they built a reputation for intense live performances and albums, releasing 13 LPs to date, in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Firefriend has established itself as one of the most intriguing under-the-radar names in contemporary psychedelic rock. In April 2025, the band welcomed drummer Ricardo Cifas and synth/keyboardist Pinhead, marking a new chapter in their sound.
