Event information
The London-based songwriters Louella JC and Leo Palzer combine their own repertoire of original songs with re-workings of trad folk, Americana and other genres. Lou and Leo have played widely across the folk clubs of London and are becoming well known for the dark material of the stories they tell, punctuated by spine tingling harmonies and flashes of humour and underlined with guitar and banjo.
For this special cross-over event, Lou & Leo will be working with violinist Anna-Maria Barth and pianist Britta Elschner, whose repertoire includes works by masters such as Clara Schumann, Chopin and Rachmaninov.
Anna-Maria Barth works in Frankfurt am Main as a freelance violinist. She is currently the coordinated concertmaster of the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt. In chamber music, she is passionate about different ensembles and styles. Her concert activities regularly take her to renowned venues such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Berliner Philharmonie, and the Elbphilharmonie. She has also performed with artists such as Adele, David Garrett, Anna Netrebko, Gregory Porter, Plácido Domingo, and Robbie Williams in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Brazil, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Oman.
Britta Elschner began taking her first piano lessons at the age of three. From the age of 15, the pianist was taught exclusively in the tradition of the Russian (Moscow) School. Her style was particularly influenced by Leonora Jossiovitch and Irina Edelstein. She is a prize-winner at several piano competitions, the winner of the ‘Ostfriesischer Klavierpreis’ and a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association. She has performed at prestigious venues across Europe and Asia, including Bangkok, the International Theatre in Frankfurt and various theatres in France.
