Event information

Having made their home on Dartmoor, Dave Harbottle and Freya Jonas have spent the past few years gathering songs, stories, melodies and fragments from the landscape around them. Inspired by ancient tors, wooded valleys, rivers, churches and the people and stories of Devon, From The Moor To The Sea brings traditional material into conversation with new songs reflecting their own experience of putting down roots and raising a family here.

The album’s title was inspired by the extraordinary journey of the wild salmon, travelling downstream from the moor to the sea before eventually finding its way home again. That image of landscape, journey and return runs through the heart of the record.

For this special launch concert, Harbottle & Jonas will be joined by Cornish fiddle player and Bard Richard Trethewey, alongside Freya’s Wild Goose Choir, bringing to life the voices, harmonies and community that have become part of the album itself.

An evening of old songs, new songs and stories rooted in the place Harbottle & Jonas now call home.
From the moor, to the sea, and home again.
