Join us at The Mill for a special night with Abrasive Trees, raising funds to support the work of Jamming Station.

Jamming Station is a Totnes-based community music organisation providing young people with opportunities to make music, play in bands, perform live and develop their creativity and confidence.

Proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting Jamming Station and helping us continue our work with young musicians.

ABOUT ABRASIVE TREES

Abrasive Trees take their name from a Buddhist description of a hallucination-like nightmare realm. Led by Matthew Rochford (Silver Moth/Rothko), with Jay Newton (guitars), Will Tyler (drums), Georgia Swallow (bass) and visual artist Jess Wooller, they display a willingness to experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within an experimental rock, post-punk or post-rock aesthetic.

The band have become known for their fierce and delicate threads of sound, shifting between sparkling instrumentals and explosive psychedelia.

Exploring themes including the complexity of loss and the hugeness of just being alive, they use distorted and reverb-drenched guitars, intricate melodies and driving drum beats to create a sense of atmosphere and intensity.

Since forming in 2018, Abrasive Trees have released four EPs, a studio album, a compilation album and a live album, working with an ever-evolving roster of musicians including members of Silver Moth, Fields of The Nephilim, Rothko, Diamond Family Archive, Quiet Quiet Band, Talitha Rise and Eat Lights Become Lights.

Following releases praised by BBC Introducing, Clash, XS Noize, Vive Le Rock, Echoes and Dust, Aural Aggravation and The Big Takeover, the band released their debut studio album Light Remaining in May 2026 via Argonauta Records to widespread critical acclaim.
