Event information

A repeat of one of THE BEST gigs we have ever put on!!

Aly Eissa – oud (EG) Jonas Cambien – keyboards (BE/NO) Ayman Asfour – violin (EG)

The Handover's debut album from 2025 has been dubbed one of the best releases on the cultlabel Sublime Frequencies, introducing a blend of classical Arabic mastery, urban shaabi, and ritual melodies from Egypts countryside. Inspired by the hypnotic, trance-inducing repetitiveness of music from the Nile-delta, and fueled by kraut-like riffs and the intensity of ‘60s-era avant
garde jazz, The Handover's music is a psychedelic journey that doesn't return to earth once it achieves levitation.
For the past two years, The Handover has gained a strong live reputation with performances at Rewire Festival in The Hague, Counterflows Festival in Glasgow, BRDCST Festival in Brussels, Jazzfest Berlin, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Motvind Festival, Oslo World Festival and clubs all over Europa, the UK and Egypt. In 2025, The Handover was selected for an official showcase at
WOMEX. A second album is scheduled to release in 2026, again on Sublime Frequencies.

Support from Nick Jonah Davis

For more than a decade, Nick Jonah Davis has established himself as one of Britain's most distinctive guitarists, creating music that feels both deeply rooted and quietly untethered. Drawing from the lineage of American solo guitar, British folk traditions, country blues and free improvisation, his recordings possess a rare ability to evoke both place and possibility.
