Event information

Have you got a wild side?
Batty has, she dreams of running barefoot, wild swimming, of talking trees, strange animals and the scent of the seasons turning. In fact she’s starting to wonder if she might be a witch...
Join Batty and her companion Wildthing for gossip, gay abandon, exquisite tenderness and raucous stories (with a side order of ranting), as they explore the magic and power of ageing.
This new production from Victoria Firth & Company explores the wildness - as opposed to madness - of women, and how our feral side can reconnect us to ourselves and our environment.

Background
Batty! Is an alternative coming of age story.
Batty is an ordinary woman on a journey of transformation. She is accompanied by an extraordinary shapeshifting companion, Wildthing. They are in a disintegrating cottage in a forest on the cusp of another world beyond responsibilities and social norms. An exciting and terrifyingly hot world in which nature reigns and women are powerful. It will explore the wildness - as opposed to madness - of women, and how our feral side can reconnect us to ourselves and our environment. For women of a certain age the work will speak to menopause and coming elderhood.
The production has a strong design aesthetic, features an original soundscape and live song. It has the intimacy of private conversations, raucous stories, snorting humour, gay abandon and exquisite tenderness.
