Event information
Selveya (formerly known as Chloe et Les Vaillantes) is the powerful combination of various folk traditions, embodied by atypical instruments and Chloe Levaillant's unique voice, joining forces to speak about the darkness as well as the beauty of human experience.
The four musicians formed this French-Swiss indiefolk band in the summer of 2021 in Bern, Switzerland. They create a unique sound at the crossroads of indie folk, chanson, pop and Swiss and Celtic traditions — music that is as poetic as it is political.
Their instrumentation – guitar, violin, Hackbrett, double bass, and rich vocal harmonies – evokes the spirit of old Emmental (Swiss) folk ensembles while unfolding into cinematic soundscapes. The result is music that feels both intimate and epic, weaving strength and sensitivity into a sound that is rhythmically driving and emotionally charged.
