Based around the vocal paring of Robert 'Hacker' Jessett and Irish chanteuse Anne Gilpin, featuring Shane Gulliver and Matt Donovan on bass and drums respectively. Morton Valence are veterans of 6 critically acclaimed studio albums and have been ploughing their own furrow for some time now.
They take the classic duet, old-school ballad and avant-folk country song, feed them through their own unique filter, creating a sound and song-writing style that is very much their own, referred to as urban country. Loaded with life-affirming harmony and candid narratives, they have been captivating music lovers and pretty much anyone who happens to stumble into their orbit for some time now.

Their songs manage to fuse the classic country ballads of John Prine and Willie Nelson with the quirkiness of Ray Davies, played out in a backdrop that is very much set this side of the Atlantic, putting a different twist on what is often labelled Americana, and thus creating something that’s not only both familiar and innovative, but also 100% authentic. Think of Nancy & Lee drifting down the River Thames on a dreamboat to the promised land, and you'll be getting close.
