Event information

With powerful voices built to echo through their expansive prairie homeland of western Canada, esteemed folk singer-songwriters Mallory Chipman & Lily Monaghan return to the UK to team up with Scottish singer-songwriter Olivia Rafferty for one night only at Banshee’s Labyrinth.

Olivia Rafferty
“Olivia’s songs are Wes Andersonia for the ears” — Findlay Napier
Olivia Rafferty is a songwriter hailing from
North-East Scotland. Her debut EP Hurricane
saw her featured on BBC Radio Scotland and
Folk Radio UK, as well as a tour spearheaded
by a showcase at Inverness’ Eden Court.
Her last name may be familiar to some, as
Olivia shares her family tree with ‘Baker Street’
songwriter Gerry Rafferty. Growing up on a
diet of power-pop and Americana, she started
songwriting under the influence of
troubadours such as Elvis Costello and Bruce
Springsteen, although her sound came into
focus through the indie-folk catalog of her
2000’s iTunes library, with artists such as
Regina Spektor played on repeat. What results
are songs that hum with an Americana
warmth, yet playfully sparkle with unlikely
subject matter and the occasional Casio
keyboard cameo.

Mallory Chipman
“Profoundly moving” — Celtic Music Radio, Glasgow
With a voice that dances like birdsong and lyrics that possess the quiet power of a proverb, it is no wonder Mallory Chipman is often compared to the legendary singer-songwriters of yore. Still, her sound is deeply idiosyncratic, and has “placed itself amidst the longer tradition of the great singer-songwriters” (Americana UK). Mallory’s 2024 album, ‘Songs to a Wild God’, hit #1 on CKUA and #5 on the Folk International Charts, and has been featured on NPR, CBC, and SiriusXM Radio. Her recent EP ‘the time’ has been described as “a masterclass and a masterpiece” (Happy Mag Australia), and has cemented her reputation as an instant classic in Canada’s folk scene. In 2026, Chipman was a nominee for Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and Roots Artist of the Year at the Country Music Alberta Awards, and she is thrilled to be returning to Ireland and the UK to connect with the audiences and the lands she loves so dearly.

Lily Monaghan
“Deeply poetic” — Roots Music Canada, Toronto
Lily Monaghan never fails to leave a lasting impression with her warm, unique tone and hypnotizing presence. Her recognizable velvety voice starkly contrasts yet beautifully complements the delicate instrumentation easily emotionally connecting with her audience through her signature biographical original songs and conversation-stopping melodies.  Fusing together elements of folk, pop, and country; Monaghan released her debut EP ("Introspection") in February of 2023, subsequently earning her spotlight artist features on keystone media outlets such as CBC and Roots Music Canada and noteworthy performances including Celtic Connections, Edmonton Folk Fest, Winnipeg Folk Fest, JUNOfest, and the Government of Canada's Canadian Citizenship Ceremony.
