The Loft is playing host to three bands that recently graced various stages at the Rebellion Punk Festivals and associated Rebellion Fringe festivals in August. This triple header will give Grimsby punks a chance to see some of the upcoming bands currently on the scene.

The Puncturists are a female-fronted four-piece melodic garage punk band who currently rehearse in Barnsley, with members also living in Goole and Grimsby.
The band started in 2022, although the current line-up has been together for approximately 2 years; singer Gail Townsend, Dale Farrow on bass, Martin Gregory on drums and guitarist Patrick Crawford, and the keen eyed amongst you will realise that they have played at The Loft previously, supporting on the last GBH all-dayer.

The band have recently released their first full length album entitled ‘I’m Not Alright, having spent the best part of 2025 working on and recording it. They felt it was worth putting the ‘extra’ in to ensure it was exactly how they wanted it. The drums were played down in The Chantry Brewery venue in Rotherham, due to having incredible acoustics, with the remainder being recorded at Orion Studios in Rotherham.. A special word must go out to their producer, Steve Ellis, who has gone over and above to help create something they're all hugely proud of. "I'm Not Alright" consists of 11 songs, including a slightly longer version of the 1st single "55", and showcases where they are as a band as well as looking forward to the direction they're going in. Critical Candy are a high-energy, very visual DIY punk trio from Nottingham, with a passion for creating various styles of alternative music. From the demanding riffs of ‘Vitriolic’, to the haunting and poetic vocals in ‘Comrade in Arms’ - they perform with a focus on inspiring and entertaining every individual in the audience. With Vicky on bass, Rose on drums, and Ruby on guitar and vocals, this ‘family band’ are a formidable 3-piece. They are currently in the process of writing new songs, which they plan to record and release in the immediate future.

The Suburban Toys, from Lincoln, are no strangers to Grimsby, having played The Loft a few times, as well as venues such as Yardbirds and Docks Academy. They have most recently supported Cockney Rejects and 96 Bitter Beings (ex-CKY) in Grimsby, but their history and association with the town stretches back much further. Although having been around for a number of years, this particular line-up have been together for about a year, featuring Lilith on vocals, and with the latest addition of Alice on keyboards, as well as the old guard of Tony on drums, Vinnie on bass, and Adam on guitar.

Their sound can best be described as punk-ska, or if you prefer, ska-punk. Often cited as being too punk for ska, and too ska for punk, the music sits somewhere in between, and they don’t mind this description. The band have had a busy run of gigs over the last year, and vowed, for the immediate future, to get into the studio and concentrate on recording.
