Isostasy is a new, forward-facing, jazz-groove-led body of music shaped by one woman’s journey through life in times of enormous change.

Drawing on the idea of isostasy—the Earth’s crust and mantle continually adjusting to changing forces—the music explores balance, movement and adaptation. Through strong improvisational elements and dynamic ensemble interplay, each musician responds and contributes to an ever-shifting musical equilibrium.

Brazilian, classical, folk and dance influences are woven into the songs, alongside reflections on personal experience, the changing circumstances of everyday life and a deep connection with the natural environment.

Taking composed elements and reshaping them through improvisation, Uroboro take you on musical journeys and flights into the unknown. Their dramatic arrangements and sinuous riffs expand and explode into free playing, both fierce and tender. From this, beautiful songs emerge, and sometimes spoken word calms everything down. Uroboro are a team of top drawer players making big, romantic music.
