Flash Gordon is gloriously, unashamedly ridiculous, and that is precisely why it endures. Released in 1980, this production brought the classic comic strip hero to life with very tight costumes, operatic villains, and a soundtrack by Queen that turns every scene into a rock concert. It is campy, loud, and utterly committed to its own absurdity. What do you mean, “Flash Gordon approaching?!”

Join Colin Newman & Oliver Kedziora for a screening followed by discussion of this absolute nonsense on 25 November at Presuming Ed’s. Emperor Ming commands it.
