Event Information
Shakespeare's classic comedy comes to Oxford this February in an innovative new setting. Featuring freshly composed live blues music, this production takes place an a prohibition era Illyria full of sharp suits, sharp wits and sharper steel. Washed up on the shores of this strange land, Viola has to disguise herself as a man to survive, working as a messenger for the dapper but dangerous "Duke" Orsino in order to woo the unconquerable Lady Olivia. Of course, nothing goes to plan, and Olivia falls for Viola, whilst she in turn goes dippy for the Duke. Meanwhile Olivia's drunken cousin Toby is making havoc with her household, and turning everything upside down. The only one who seems to have a clue what's going on is the fool, Feste, and he's not exactly known for talking sense.
