Friends & Neighbours is intended to create a low-key, approachable environment to explore boundary-pushing sounds and radical movements through the intersections and divergences of jazz, metal, classical, folk and experimental music.
Takes its name from Ornette Coleman's record 'Friends and Neighbours', inspired by its communal spirit and togetherness. Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Efrim Menuck described the record as "a joyous difficult noise" that demands collaboration and inclusion: "all of us together, or not at all". Friends & Neighbours looks to channel this attitude through radio, newsletters and events.
