Laugh Cry Comedy Club brings you an amazing experience of live comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with brilliant headliners along with up and coming comedians.

14th & 21st Aug - Kate Cheka
Funny Women Award winner 2023 Kate Cheka began comedy in Berlin where she organised and hosted two shows, a femme identifying open mic and a women of colour showcase. She was also a Chortle Best Newcomer nominee 2024, a BBC New Comedy Awards regional finalist 2022, a finalist at the Berlin New Stand-up Award in 2019 and BBC Radio 4 Introducing New Comedy Award 2019 nominee as well as Funny Women semi-finalist in both 2021 and 2022. Described as having 'stylish comedy delivered with a great blend of joy and disdain' she makes comedy to spite someone who once said 'I thought you were more fun'.

15th Aug - Rachel Baker
In a recent poll 84% of people said Rachel Baker looked like the megabus man. Unlike the megabus man though Rachel is a fresh talent on the Birmingham comedy circuit, a BBC new creative and semi-finalist of the Funny Women awards 2021 and 2022. Sometimes a character comedian, sometimes chatting about being a silly billy, she is guaranteed to make you chuckle.

16th Aug - Sarah Hester Ross
Best known for her 3 million followers online and her uproarious Las Vegas Residency, Sarah Hester Ross brings Sarah Hester Ross Is What? to Edinburgh Fringe for her premier debut at the fest. Following the release of her new comedy special on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Don’t Mess With A Redhead, the new 1-hour show Sarah Hester Ross Is What? is a hilarious musical experience that shows you a woman being TikTok famous, who doesn’t want babies and is the leader of the ‘Stop Giving Men Microphones’ movement.

17th Aug - Mel Owen
Mel Owen, dubbed “Wales’ most exciting new act” (Clwb Comedy), is an award-winning comedian with wins under her belt from Comedy Smash (Liverpool), Comedy Virgins (London) and Comedy Chest (Bristol). Her debut work-in-progress show featured at this year’s Manchester Comedy Festival, with critics pinning her as “one to watch”. Mel has script writing credits on BBC Cymru Wales and Channel 4, and created one of Wales’ most popular podcasts Mel Mal Jal, now on BBC Sounds.

18th & 20 Aug - Stuart Laws
Stuart has supported James Acaster on his UK tours and has appeared on and written for Radio 4, BBC, Prime & UKTV, has two specials on NextUp Comedy and one on American label 800 Pound Gorilla Media. In 2021 he was nominated for Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show and in 2022 he was nominated for Comedians Choice Best Show. In 2023 his show was awarded 4.5⭐️ by Chortle and was filmed as a special after a national tour.

19th Aug - Charlene Kaye
Charlene Kaye, who releases music under the moniker KAYE, is a force to be reckoned with. An accomplished singer, multi-instrumentalist, actor, and stand-up comic, Kaye has carved out a unique path in the entertainment industry, beginning with her time performing with TEAM STARKID, the viral internet sensation founded by her University of Michigan classmate, Emmy award-winning actor Darren Criss. Following sold-out performances across the United States, Charlene Kaye brings her hilarious, heartbreaking, and healing show to its first international audience. The show was recently selected by Margaret Cho to open her Vanguard Artist-in-Residence Series at Joe's Pub in New York this October.

22nd Aug - Alternative Comedy night with Kate Smurthwaite and Aunty Ginger
Kate Smurthwaite is a left wing, feminist, atheist, polyamorous comedian and activist. She performs stand-up comedy at major clubs including Manford’s, The Stand, The Comedy Store, Piccadilly Comedy Club, What The Frock, Bring Your Own Baby and The Poodle Club.
Kate has appeared as a panellist on Question Time as well as The Big Questions, This Morning, BBC News, Sky News, Woman's Hour, The Today Program, The Moral Maze, Newsnight and is a regular guest on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine show. Kate has also written for TV, radio and web series including Have I Got News For You and BBC3’s BAFTA-winning The Revolution Will Be Televised. She was a finalist in 2015's SitCom Mission competition.

Aunty Ginger is everyone's favourite camp Aunty! Larger than life Drag Comedienne, DJ and Cabaret Singer.

23rd Aug - Josephine Lacey
Josephine regularly performs in her home town of London, around England and also Ireland. Her performances at The Edinburgh Fringe in 2010 & 2011 made a huge impact on audiences and promoters alike leaving her comedy voice in great demand. In 2013 Josephine penned her first one woman show, “Me and My Little Einstein”; about living and raising an non-verbal, autistic child which gained much interest and left audiences in England and Ireland in stitches. 2021 saw the release of her second solo show, “Autism Mama and Puberty”. Selling out at the Soho Theatre in 2022/23 – this is a must see show!

24th & 25th Aug - Mixed Lineup

LCCC is run by Shruti Sharma, she performed at the prestigious Soho theatre in London at the Soho Rising Festival 2023. She's a sassy comedian who pushes comedic boundaries between feminism and how much the men in her audience know about the women in their lives. She uses her international experience of having lived in India, France and the UK to make fun of idiosyncratic similarities.

Matt Male will be co-hosting these shows, hailing from saucy Worcestershire, Matt is somewhere in between a toddler and a tacky mom (maybe more of a wine aunt)? If you don’t think you’re into werewolf porn, you will be by the end of his set.
