William Sutton

I have been teaching Creative Writing for 20 years.

I enjoy sharing my love of stories, language, literature, grammar, history, mythology and philosophy. I hope to find quirky ways to give insights into the writing process and exercises to help establish your own writing practice.

I tutor online, with tutees from age 8 to 80, working especially with Creative Writing, literature, exam technique, interview practice (as well as Latin, Greek, Verbal Reasoning).

I also teach Creative Writing at University of Portsmouth, specialising in general fiction, journalism and travel writing. I have taught English as a Foreign Language in Brazil, Italy and the UK, from beginners to proficiency level.

I have hosted readings, talks and workshops at festivals, schools, libraries and prisons. I work with the Portsmouth Writers’ Hub, helping writers present their work with passion and originality in events such as Day of the Dead, Typewriter Tales, Valentine’s Massacre and Premature Articulation. Appearances include the Edinburgh Festival, Canterbury Cathedral, a Kent farm, a mediaeval tower, Eton College and High Down Prison.
