Orkney Blues Festival

Set in the islands of Orkney, this friendly and well regarded festival hosts the most talented visiting blues artists from around the world, and features the wealth of homegrown talent in Orkney from the local bands.

Focused in the port town of Stromness in the lively pubs, hotels and community venues the festival runs right through the weekend, with live music within minutes walk from each venue. The majority of our events are free to enter in the local pubs and hotels across the weekend!

Orkney Blues Festival is a non-profit arrangement, with all fundraising, ticket sales and sponsorship going directly to the operational costs of the festival and inviting such talented artists to the islands - making sure they have a warm bed, food and are taken care of during their stay in true Orcadian fashion. The festival owes a lot to it's host venues for the support provided in offering their facilities and creating the Blues Weekend known and loved by so many, and also to the local artists and bands of which there are a great number, who have supported the festival with their music for the past 20 years.

The festival weekend is held each September, a late season blast of blues where you can enjoy talented local and national musicians in friendly and intimate settings - with event nights and our main event concert featuring all our headliners in one showstopping performance on the Saturday night of the festival.

Further events take place on the mainland of Orkney and the isles, along with fundraisers and other events throughout the year.
