A very British programme of classic orchestral works with an Italian starter! Verdi's overture to his opera 'The Force of Destiny' is followed by a concerto for Violin and Viola written by Benjamin Britten in his late teens. An amazingly mature work and a wonderful piece only recently made available. The orchestra will be joined by one of Britain's most outstanding Viola players, Philip Dukes and rising young star Kate Suthers, Violin. After the interval, Elgar's 'Enigma Variations' needs little introduction.
