Event information
We Can Be Heroes Disco returns to Walthamstow Trades Hall on Sunday, 27th October for our annual family-friendly Halloween spectacular with live bands, DJs and more!
Join us from 1pm - 5pm for fun and frivolous rock, pop, indie, hip-hop and soundtracks to get you and your whole family dancing. Expect a whole afternoon of awesome Halloween hits, with a spook-tacular live set from Dom Green's Fright School and local heavy metal shockers Contortious (whose energy blew us away when we saw them at the 2024 Waltham Forest Battle of the Bands).
Plus DJs, face painting, giveaways, pizza from Yard Sale Pizza (right across the road) and the cheapest bar in E17! We'll also be holding our annual costume competition, with prizes for the best-dressed grown-ups!
We Can Be Heroes is an all-ages disco and live event for everyone. What started as a celebration of all things geeky has evolved into a mini-festival in an afternoon for grown-ups and kids.
The music is a mix of blockbuster soundtracks and 80s pop, upbeat indie and big, silly rock. Think John Hughes meets John Williams. Expect to hear the Runaways, the Ramones, Weird Al, Weezer, Kiss, AC/DC, Cyndi Lauper, De La Soul, They Might Be Giants, Violent Femmes, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Madonna, Metallica and more. All played at a child-friendly volume that’s still perfect for dancing.
Whilst there isn’t a strict costume policy, everyone - grown-ups and kids – is encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite characters from comics, films, sci-fi or fantasy. After all, it's Halloween!
We run an event that strives to be both safe and inclusive. No adults admitted unless accompanied by a child. Also, please note that there will be live music at this event. Whilst we will make every effort to monitor the sound levels, you may want to consider ear protection for children.
Excelsior!
