Carl Fredricksen , a 78-year-old balloon salesman, is about to fulfil a lifelong dream, determined to get to South America to keep a promise he made to his wife, Ellie. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, he flies away to the South American wilderness. But curmudgeonly Carl's worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a little boy named Russell is a stowaway aboard the balloon-powered house.

The world's most unlikely duo reach new heights and meet fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, the rare 13-foot tall flightless bird.
