Learn to Knit

Learn to Knit Class - Wednesdays 10.00am-12pm (over 4 weeks).

Spring is a time of new beginnings and growth. With longer days, it is the perfect time to learn a new skill, with restorative and mindful benefits.

Focusing your mind and hands on repetitive stitches for a period of time takes you somewhere calm, much like meditation. When you are knitting, you have to slow down, and with that anxiety recedes as you become focused on what your hands are doing.

This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners, or for those who can knit a little but want to gain more confidence in their knitting.

This class will teach the basic stitches and techniques, practicing those stitches by making swatches. Skills and techniques are built upon each week at an unhurried pace, along with learning to read and follow basic patterns.

You will leave with the skills to continue your knitting journey with curiosity, and with a powerful tool for accessing a deep sense of calm.

What we will cover:
Casting on
Knit Stitch
Purl Stitch
Simple Striping
Rib stitch (working knit and purl stitches)
Casting off
Basic pattern reading, pattern abbreviations and terminology to help you on your onward knitting journey.

*Price includes materials, (yarn and needles).

You may find it helpful to bring a pen or pencil to make your own notes on the printed worksheets that accompany the workshop, or a small notebook, as often these notes are really helpful when you're working at home between classes.

If you buzz no. 12, I will let you in. Walk up the stairs and go left at the top, through to the door at the end to the outside. Follow the path round to the right of the building until you see the cabin. There are small stairs along the way.
